Kvadrat

Denmark (1968)

Founded in Denmark in 1968, Kvadrat is one of the world’s leading textile manufacturers, renowned for pushing the boundaries of fabric innovation while staying rooted in Scandinavian design and Pop Art heritage. The company made its mark with Hallingdal, a wool-viscose textile by Nanna Ditzel — valued for its durability and vivid color, used everywhere from the Danish National Railways to international airports.

Over the decades, Kvadrat introduced a series of design icons, including Tonus by Nina Koppel and Divina by Finn Skødt — fabrics that remain staples in both contract and residential interiors. Now led by CEO Anders Byriel and Head of Product Development Mette Bendix, Kvadrat has expanded its portfolio through technical advancements and architectural applications, including the Soft Cells acoustic panels featured in landmark projects such as London’s Gherkin.

Kvadrat maintains strong ties to the art and design world, collaborating with leading institutions and architects on custom textiles for MoMA, the Walt Disney Concert Hall, and the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. In 2017, they invited 19 designers to reinterpret their Canvas textile in a celebrated exhibition at the London Design Festival.

Recent partnerships with Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec and Raf Simons have introduced 3D knits, stretch textiles, and fashion-forward accessories. With strategic acquisitions like Sahco and bedding brand Magniberg, Kvadrat continues to shape the global textile landscape — combining heritage, innovation, and uncompromising design.
