Danh Vo

Vietnam

Danh Vo is a celebrated conceptual artist known for exploring identity, history, and cultural inheritance through personal and political narratives. Born in Vietnam in 1975 and raised in Denmark, Vo studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and Städelschule in Frankfurt. His work often weaves together found objects, archival materials, and subtle interventions to challenge dominant historical narratives.

Vo has presented solo exhibitions at leading institutions worldwide, including La Bourse de Commerce in Paris (2023), Secession in Vienna (2021), and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York (2018). In 2015, he represented Denmark at the Venice Biennale, and he is a recipient of the Hugo Boss Prize, one of contemporary art’s most prestigious awards.

Danh Vo’s collaboration with Kvadrat exemplifies his nuanced engagement with material culture, particularly through his curatorial rediscovery of Nanna Ditzel’s textile design Sisu for his 2018 retrospective at Denmark’s National Gallery (SMK).
