More details here…

Serpentine is a voluminous wool upholstery textile by Giulio Ridolfo that reflects Kvadrat’s material heritage through a modern lens. Blending traditional craftsmanship with advanced weaving techniques, it delivers dynamic color interplay and a uniquely tactile structure.

The textile’s softness and substantial feel come from a thick, pure wool weft yarn — specially developed by Innvik, Kvadrat’s Norwegian weaving mill — combined with two finer yarns in the warp. This innovative structure emulates the visual rhythm of a double Ikat weave, but on an industrial scale.

Serpentine’s color story reflects Ridolfo’s deep understanding of how hue is embedded in textile form. Its 12-color palette juxtaposes earthy, Italian-inspired tones — such as adobe, stone, and terracotta — with vibrant accents drawn from his travels in Mexico, echoing the ornamental detailing of local textiles.

Serpentine connects points of culture,” Ridolfo explains. The thick yarn carries the natural tones of my life in Italy, while the warp brings a resonating buzz of Mexican color.”

This layered construction results in a sophisticated, energetic palette with both depth and movement. Durable and versatile, Serpentine is ideal for both commercial and residential applications where color and texture are equally valued.
