More details here…

Mélange Nap is a richly textured woolen upholstery textile designed by Akira Minagawa, renowned for his poetic visual language. Characterized by a soft, tactile surface and remarkable depth of color, Mélange Nap offers a distinct, mélange expression with subtle graphic intricacy.

Constructed using a combination of unicolored and mélange yarns, the textile features a delicate pattern of tiny dots that shimmer across its surface. Depending on the contrast between the yarns, the result can range from nearly solid tones in darker colorways to vibrant, multicolored compositions with visible variation.

Minagawa drew inspiration from nature’s elemental forces — Forest, Sun, Ocean, Minerals, Earth, and Dune — infusing the palette with an organic serenity. These influences lend Mélange Nap a harmonious character that allows it to enhance interiors with a quiet, scenic presence.

Brushed to achieve its luxuriously soft hand, yet highly durable, Mélange Nap is ideal for both private and contract settings. It is available in 26 nuanced colorways and composed of 97% new worsted wool and 3% nylon.

Akira Minagawa

Japan

Akira Minagawa is a celebrated Japanese textile and fashion designer, best known as the visionary behind the poetic and deeply evocative minä perhonen label. His work is distinguished by a romantic, slightly naïve aesthetic, underpinned by meticulous attention to detail and a profound reverence for craftsmanship.

Driven by a belief in the longevity and emotional value of objects, Minagawa designs with the intention that garments and textiles should transcend fashion trends, growing more meaningful and beautiful over time. He envisions clothing not merely as something to wear, but as companions for life—items that can be passed down through generations.

Minagawa’s style draws from both Japanese traditions and Scandinavian sensibilities, marrying the simplicity and purity of Nordic design with the storytelling and tactility of Japanese craft. This harmonious fusion results in designs that are deeply personal, subtly expressive, and unmistakably timeless.

Through his work, Minagawa continues to influence both fashion and textile design, celebrated internationally for his ability to transform daily life into a poetic experience through fabric and form.
