Kvadrat Mizmaze Fabric

Mizmaze is a knitted uphol­stery textile designed by Sylvain Willenz, char­ac­terised by its bold, geomet­ric surface and tactile depth. The textile reveals lines that shift and dissolve depend­ing on your perspec­tive, creat­ing an inter­play of light, shadow, and texture.

As with all Kvadrat Febrik double-knitted textiles, Mizmaze offers excep­tional stretch, soft volume, and padded comfort — ideal for uphol­ster­ing organic shapes. Its construc­tion unites a wool surface with a durable poly­ester backing, blend­ing visual soft­ness with high perfor­mance. The addi­tion of polyamide ensures excel­lent abra­sion resis­tance and long-lasting durability.

The inspi­ra­tion for Mizmaze came from Willenz’s expe­ri­ence build­ing a maze for his chil­dren. This playful exper­i­ment evolved into a study of struc­tured irreg­u­lar­ity, drawing influ­ence from archi­tec­tural mate­ri­als such as bricks and tiles.

The earthy palette reflects this archi­tec­tural influ­ence, featur­ing tones like char­coal, ochre, muted greys, and soft blues and greens — subtle colors grounded in natural materials.

Mizmaze is also produced with Kvadrat Febrik’s pioneer­ing soaking-only process, which reduces water usage by 80 – 95%, rein­forc­ing the brand’s commit­ment to inno­va­tion and resource efficiency.
