Kvadrat Raas Fabric

Designed by Doshi Levien, Raas is a vibrant, tactile uphol­stery textile defined by a rich, hand-crafted color story and a subtly expressive surface.

Woven from two volu­mi­nous unicol­ored yarns — a regular yarn in the weft and a slub yarn in the warp — Raas offers a distinc­tive texture that evokes the feel of bouclé and the cool touch of linen. The inter­play between the gridded struc­ture and the irreg­u­lar­ity of the slub yarn lends the textile a refined, dynamic appearance.

To develop the palette, Doshi Levien hand-mixed over 100 gouache colors, which were metic­u­lously painted onto samples and used as precise refer­ences in the dyeing process. The result is a collec­tion of highly nuanced shades, each with a depth and sophis­ti­ca­tion that cannot be matched by conven­tional color systems.

The careful balance of struc­ture, texture, and color gives Raas a quiet vibrancy, making it ideal for creat­ing expres­sive yet elegant furni­ture compo­si­tions. Its refined tactil­ity and versa­tile palette suit both public and private inte­ri­ors, partic­u­larly when paired with comple­men­tary textile such as Jaali.
