More details here…

Jaali is an architectural woolen upholstery textile designed by Doshi Levien, defined by its subtle interplay of pattern, texture, and light. Named after the Hindi word for net” or grid,” Jaali reveals a fine hexagonal lattice when seen up close, while from a distance, it takes on the appearance of a rich, textured surface.

Constructed from two tone-on-tone unicolored yarns, Jaali balances structure with softness. Its smooth, flat base contrasts with the delicately raised motif, creating a gentle three-dimensional effect through the play of light and shadow. Though the pattern is directionless, the drop-like shapes that make up the grid evoke quiet graphic movement and a sense of rhythm.

Jaali is offered in 20 meticulously curated colorways. These were distilled from over 1500 woven samples and developed as a natural extension of the palettes from Lila and Raas, two earlier Kvadrat textiles by Doshi Levien. The designers expanded the range with nuanced, unexpected neutrals — designed to feel both fresh and quietly versatile.

Nipa Doshi: We aim to introduce colors that feel new but remain usable. Our approach is subtle, because we want the textiles to support long-term use and creative freedom.”

Combining lightness with architectural clarity, Jaali is equally at home in private interiors and public spaces. Its palette and pattern pair effortlessly with other Kvadrat textiles, especially Lila and Raas, offering rich possibilities for layered, tactile compositions.
