More details here…

Rumor is a knitted upholstery textile by Bertjan Pot that bridges the worlds of handcrafted aesthetics and digital design. Its shifting surface plays with color and pattern intensity, creating a rich, pixelated landscape that evolves with perspective.

Notably, Rumor is Kvadrat Febrik’s first knitted textile made from over 70% post-consumer recycled polyester, combined with a specially developed filling yarn that adds distinctive volume and softness.

To develop the design, Pot used the diffusion dither’ tool — a digital process that transforms images into randomly arranged colored pixels. This technique provided the perfect link between the pixelated logic of digital design and the structural square units inherent to knitted textiles.

Bertjan Pot explains: The diffusion dither tool creates these lovely square pixels, which works perfectly with knitting — it transforms a technical, digital process into something that feels organic and handcrafted.”

Rumor is offered in nine versatile colorways. From a distance, the textile presents a uniform, muted appearance. Up close, clusters of pixel-like stitches in four contrasting tones reveal themselves, adding depth and movement to the surface. These colors are integrated during the knitting process — not applied through post-production dyeing — ensuring a rich, long-lasting expression.

As with all Kvadrat Febrik knitted textiles, Rumor provides excellent stretch and is ideal for upholstering organic forms, enhancing both tactile comfort and visual intrigue.
