Mono

Founded in 1959, Mono is a family-run design company renowned for its pure, modernist tabletop and cutlery collections. From flatware and tea sets to serving pieces and accessories, every Mono object reflects a commitment to clarity, precision, and craftsmanship — values that have guided the brand for over six decades.

Mono’s breakthrough came with the launch of Mono A, a radically simple flatware design by Prof. Peter Raacke that became an icon of German industrial design. Stripped of ornament and rooted in functional clarity, Mono A remains in production today and is part of permanent collections at institutions like MoMA and the V&A. It laid the foundation for a series of design collaborations that define the Mono catalogue — minimal yet expressive, refined yet enduring.

Production continues in the company’s original factory, where skilled craftspeople hand-finish each piece with extraordinary care. From brushing and grinding to polishing and assembling, Mono’s dedication to traditional processes ensures lasting quality. Many designs, including the sculptural Mono Ring flatware and the elegant Mono Teapot, are considered design classics.

Now led by the fifth generation of the Seibel family, Mono remains deeply rooted in its heritage while continuing to evolve. The collection speaks to those who value thoughtful design and lasting beauty — tableware made not for trends, but for life.
