More details here…

Divina Mélange 3 is a vibrant, felt-like wool upholstery textile designed by artist and color master Finn Sködt. Cheerfully minimal yet rich in depth, it is piece-dyed from a dark or light grey mélange base to produce luminous, nuanced tones that bring furniture forms to life.

Crafted using a classic milling process — where pressure and heat smooth the woven wool into a soft, dense surface — Divina Mélange 3 offers exceptional comfort and a directionless, uniform finish reminiscent of fine tailoring. This makes it especially effective at showcasing both shape and color.

The updated palette draws from Sködt’s extensive library of hand-painted samples, built over decades of artistic practice. It blends signature shades like hot pink, forest green, and his favored ultramarine with softer chalky notes and grounded neutrals. Departing from previous editions, the new colorways move beyond light/dark pairs to explore complementary contrasts, adding a fresh layer of versatility.

Timeless yet bold, Divina Mélange 3 channels Sködt’s pure, intuitive approach to color. It’s a tactile, expressive textile designed to elevate both contemporary and classic interiors.

Finn Sködt

Denmark

Finn Sködt was a Danish graphic artist and textile designer, known for his mastery of color composition and his exceptional ability to blend hues with precision. After studying at the Graphic Institute of Denmark in Copenhagen and the Aarhus Academy of Fine Arts, Sködt spent his career working from his home and workshop on the scenic Helgenæs peninsula in Denmark.

Sködt's design practice spanned several disciplines, including graphic design, painting, sculpture, and textile design. He created numerous upholstery and curtain textiles for Kvadrat from the early 1980s onward, becoming renowned for his exploration of color. His work often started with primary colors—red, yellow, and blue—before branching out into other hues and nuanced tones. Sködt’s style was deeply influenced by his background in graphic arts, with a preference for clear, vibrant colors and clean, aesthetic designs. His textiles, much like his graphic art, were known for their purity and simplicity, often featuring his beloved color: Ultramarine blue.

Sködt’s innovative use of color was not just about visual appeal but also about exploring the fluidity and movement of color itself. As he once stated: “Colors are fluid and the color blue, especially, is always going somewhere.”
