More details here…

Designed by Teruhiro Yanagihara, Ame is a pioneering upholstery textile that reflects a commitment to longevity, beauty, and circular design. It is the first Kvadrat textile made from 100% textile-to-textile recycled polyester — crafted entirely from post-consumer textile waste and engineered to match the durability of virgin polyester.

Inspired by Sashiko, a traditional Japanese embroidery technique used to mend and strengthen fabrics, Ame features a rhythmic micro-pattern woven from yarns of varying thicknesses. Two-tone colorways echo the subtle contrast of hand-stitched repairs, blending craft heritage with contemporary aesthetics.

Yanagihara’s design draws from his research into the Silk Road’s influence on Japanese textile traditions, especially the art of Kasane no Irome — the layering of colors in Heian-era court attire. This influence comes through in Ame’s nuanced, poetic palette, designed to evoke warmth and depth.

Soft yet high-performing, Ame is ideal for commercial, hospitality, and residential spaces where sustainability and refined design go hand in hand.

Ame’s recycled polyester is produced through an advanced depolymerization process that transforms textile waste into new yarns. This closed-loop method eliminates the need for virgin materials while ensuring premium performance and recyclability.
