Alexandre Noll

c. 1999

Alexandre noll

A richly illustrated monograph on French sculptor and designer Alexandre Noll, this bilingual volume (French and English) remains the most comprehensive study of his life and work. Published as part of Éditions du Regard’s distinguished monograph series and designed by Frédéric Develeay, the book features striking photography by Jacques Pépion that brings Noll’s carved wooden forms to life.

Noll’s practice — defined by his commitment to handwork, organic abstraction, and the expressive potential of wood — spanned sculpture, furniture, and decorative objects. His pieces, typically sculpted from single blocks of richly grained timber, remain astonishingly modern and tactile decades after their creation.

The monograph includes an extensive biography, bibliography, and exhibition history, making it an essential reference for collectors, historians, and enthusiasts of mid-century French decorative arts. A beautifully produced and increasingly rare volume in very good condition.
