Stefan Diez

Stefan Diez, an indus­trial designer deeply influ­enced by his family’s carpen­try legacy, brings crafts­man­ship to the fore­front of his work. Born in 1971 in Freis­ing, Germany, Diez grew up in a house­hold of fourth-gener­a­tion carpen­ters and trained as a cabinet maker before study­ing under Richard Sapper at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart. In 2002, he founded his own studio, later evolv­ing into DIEZ OFFICE in 2008.

With a passion for educa­tion, Diez has held teach­ing posi­tions at pres­ti­gious insti­tu­tions, includ­ing the Univer­sity of Arts and Design Karl­sruhe, the School of Indus­trial Design in Lund, and as head of Indus­trial Design ID1 at Die Ange­wandte in Vienna. His work spans furni­ture, table­ware, and home acces­sories, often in collab­o­ra­tion with leading manu­fac­tur­ers such as e15, Emu, HAY, Rosen­thal, Thonet, Vibia, Wagner, and Wilkhahn, show­cas­ing his dedi­ca­tion to combin­ing tradi­tion and innovation.
