Stefan Diez
Stefan Diez, an industrial designer deeply influenced by his family’s carpentry legacy, brings craftsmanship to the forefront of his work. Born in 1971 in Freising, Germany, Diez grew up in a household of fourth-generation carpenters and trained as a cabinet maker before studying under Richard Sapper at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart. In 2002, he founded his own studio, later evolving into DIEZ OFFICE in 2008.
With a passion for education, Diez has held teaching positions at prestigious institutions, including the University of Arts and Design Karlsruhe, the School of Industrial Design in Lund, and as head of Industrial Design ID1 at Die Angewandte in Vienna. His work spans furniture, tableware, and home accessories, often in collaboration with leading manufacturers such as e15, Emu, HAY, Rosenthal, Thonet, Vibia, Wagner, and Wilkhahn, showcasing his dedication to combining tradition and innovation.
