Kristine Five Melvær

Kris­tine Five Melvær is a Norwe­gian designer whose work spans glass, textiles, light­ing, and furni­ture, char­ac­ter­ized by a sensi­tive balance between clarity, color, and mate­r­ial explo­ration. Educated at the Oslo School of Archi­tec­ture and Design and with a back­ground in both design and commu­ni­ca­tion, she approaches objects as carri­ers of visual and emotional dialogue.

Melvær’s prac­tice often explores how color, trans­parency, and form inter­act, creat­ing pieces that shift subtly with light and perspec­tive. Working closely with skilled arti­sans, she empha­sizes the tactile and expres­sive qual­i­ties of mate­ri­als, partic­u­larly in glass, where layer­ing and translu­cency play a central role.

Her work has been exhib­ited inter­na­tion­ally and is held in several museum collec­tions. Through a thought­ful and exper­i­men­tal approach, Kris­tine Five Melvær contin­ues to create objects that are both quietly poetic and grounded in material integrity.
