Alfredo Häberli

Argentina

Alfredo Häberli is an internationally acclaimed designer known for combining tradition with innovation, playfulness with precision. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1964, he moved to Switzerland in 1977 and later graduated in Industrial Design from the Höhere Schule für Gestaltung in Zürich in 1991.

Early in his career, Häberli worked with the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich, curating and developing exhibitions that deepened his engagement with design as both function and culture. In 1991, he established his own studio, launching a prolific career that spans furniture design, everyday products, exhibition concepts, and even architectural projects.

Häberli’s process begins with close observation of everyday life. He collects fragments of ideas, grounded in the needs and nuances of daily living. His design philosophy emphasizes clarity and practicality — if a product idea cannot be articulated in just a few sentences, it’s not ready. This focus has led to collaborations with leading global brands and a portfolio defined by its refined aesthetics, technical precision, and enduring functionality.
