Instead, he delved deeply into the works of renowned figures such as composer Luigi Nono, painter Giorgio Morandi, writer J.M. Coetzee, and architect Carlo Scarpa. Through their influence, Bakker developed a profound appreciation for the expressive potential of his chosen medium.
