Philipp Mainzer Backenzahn Stool 11

The e15 Backenzahn stool, designed by Philipp Mainzer and named after the German word for molar,” is a celebrated design icon that merges functional furniture with sculptural art. Its bold, versatile design allows it to function as a stool, side table, or occasional table, making it an adaptable centerpiece for any interior.

Featuring four post-like legs, the Backenzahn’s distinctive form is both striking and elegant. Narrow gaps between the legs create a captivating cruciform shape when viewed from above, while the leg bases are sculpted to resemble the roots of a tooth. The stool’s slightly concave top offers ergonomic seating comfort, with an optional flat-top variation available for use as a table.

Crafted from northern European oiled oak or walnut, each Backenzahn stool is unique, showcasing the natural grain, striations, and organic splits of the wood. Combining artistry, practicality, and timeless appeal, the Backenzahn stool is a true design masterpiece.
